Casuarina

Casuarina plantation (Casuarina junghuhniana and Casuarina equisetifolia) is spread over Acre 16.40 Cent with 28,600 trees at 5 ft X 5 ft spacing. Primary focus is to cater the paper industry. The varieties include CH-1 (hybrid), CH-2 (hybrid), CH-5 (hybrid), CJ (seed), CJ-17 (clone), CJ-18 (clone) and MTP2 (clone).

Care with proper drip irrigation, pruning and fertilizer inputs is given for maximum yield.

Eucalyptus plantation is spread over Acre 18.54 Cent with 22,450 trees at 6 ft X 6 ft spacing. Primary focus is to cater the paper industry. The varieties include Euc 523 (TNPL), Euc 529 (TNPL), Euc 2135 (ITC), EH1 seed (ITC) and EH1 clone (ITC).

Care with proper drip irrigation, and fertilizer inputs is given for maximum yield.

Nilambur Teak plantation is spread over Acre 3.50 Cent with 4,088 trees at 6 ft X 6 ft spacing. 6th year and 12th year alternate trees will be harvested (thinned). Lastly 1,022 trees (25%) shall persist with 24 ft X 24 ft spacing until final harvest.

The Red Sander (Pterocarpus santalinus) is a species of Pterocarpus endemic to the Southern Eastern Ghats mountain range of South India. This tree is valued for the rich red colour of its wood. It has great demand for the heartwood.

Red Sander seedlings sourced from TNAU Forest College & Research Institute, Mettupalayam is planted in Acre 1.35 Cent spreading 407 trees at 12 ft X 12 ft spacing.

Minimal required water through drip irrigation, and very basic care is given.

Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) 400 seedlings sourced from Tamil Nadu Forest Department, is planted as avenue trees with 20 ft spacing on either side of the farm roads.

The trees grows in tropical and semi tropical regions. Its fruits and seeds are the source of neem oil. Azadirachtin is a chemical compound present in neem seeds. Azadirachtin of neem oil is a famous natural Anti-feedent, growth regulator and ovi-positional repellent for insects, as a major active ingredient which make it a perfect alternative to chemical pesticides.

We propose block plantation of selective Neem varieties (with good Azadirachtin content) sourced from TNAU Forest College & Research Institute, Mettupalayam.
